AN BHLIAIN

The Year

Not clock time. Living time.

There is a kind of tiredness that comes from living out of rhythm with the year. Not from overwork alone, though that may be part of it. Something quieter. A sense that you are always slightly ahead of yourself, or behind, or arriving at something that has already moved on without you.

An Bhliain is the Irish word for the year, and this pathway begins with a different understanding of what a year actually is. Not a container to fill. Not a sequence of targets to move through. A living thing, with its own intelligence, its own gathering and releasing, its own moments of opening and retreat.

The Celtic Wheel of the Year holds eight distinct moments, each with its own quality of light and energy and invitation. This pathway asks what it would mean to actually live in that rhythm, not as a spiritual practice set apart from your working life, but woven through it. To know when to move forward and when to let something rest. To build with the grain of the year rather than against it.

For practitioners who give so much of themselves, that alignment is not an indulgence. It is what makes the work sustainable.

What An Bhliain Explores

The Map Before the Mending

There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from caring well for everyone else while quietly, almost invisibly, running low yourself. You keep going because you know how. You manage because you always have. And somewhere along the way, you stop checking, because checking means seeing, and seeing might mean having to change something, and you don’t have the energy for that right now.

Láirscáil begins here. Not with a list of things to do. Not with a new protocol or a better morning routine. It begins with a walk through your own house, looking honestly at what is working and where the real mess is. Marie’s grandmother put it plainly before anyone started cleaning: walk through every room first, see what is working and where the biggest mess is, then decide where to begin.

That is what this programme is. Six weeks of honest seeing, guided by an ancient Irish framework for understanding human energy. You will map yourself using the Three Cauldrons. You will notice what is depleted, what is flowing, and what is trying to move. And from that seeing, you will choose one or two things to tend, not forty-two, not a heroic overhaul. Something that fits your life and your body and this particular season of you.

How the Pathway Works

An Bhliain runs twice a year, moving through the rhythm of the seasons rather than the rhythm of an academic calendar. Each session is spacious, unhurried, and rooted in the specific quality of light and time that belongs to that moment in the year. There is teaching, there is breath, and there is time to notice what the season is actually doing in your body and your life, not just in the fields outside.

This is not a content-heavy programme. It is a practice in paying attention, and in learning to trust what you find when you do.

The invitation throughout is a simple one: to notice where the year is holding you, and where you might allow it to hold you differently.
