“Three days. Two facilitators. One genuine exhale.”

The Exhale Gathering: Breathwork Retreat Yorkshire

This is true retreat. It’s not a workshop disguised as a retreat. Or a packed programme with an exhausting to-do list waiting at the other end. It’s a retreat. Time away from your normal life. Where space to rest and integrate is not bolted on at the edges. It is the whole point.

Of course, breathwork runs through every day. As does nourishing food. Then there’s time in the rhythm of the place surrounded by the Yorkshire countryside. Space for self-reflection, for quiet, and for the kind of conversation that only happens when no one is rushing anywhere.

Our theme for this retreat is Story. The stories we tell ourselves, the stories our clients hold, the stories we can use in our sessions, and the stories that are behind the fabric of who we are.

*We purposefully limit the available spaces to no more than 11, so the retreat is small and intimate.

Sharyn visited the venue recently, and the land did what land does when it is ready to receive people. It welcomed our energy and shared it’s own.

The skies were wide and blue. Daffodils and hyacinths dancing at the edge of the path. The trees were there to be walked among. And somewhere near the hedge, a bug hotel – small, considered, and quietly emblematic of a place that tends to living things.

This is Hawkhills, near York, in the quieter rhythms of North Yorkshire.
It is the kind of place that does some of the work before the retreat even begins.

The Evening Business Masterminds

No case studies. No hypotheticals. Just real, live coaching for your business

You’ll be invited to submit your business challenges before the session and two or three people will be chosen to go into the hotseat – live, one-to-one coaching in front of the group. Real challenges, explored honestly where everyone in the room learns from watching the actual challenge worked through in real time.

Both evenings after dinner.

Your Room is a Sanctuary

Your overnight stay includes a private double room – single occupancy, that’s just for you.

Time apart from the group is built into the rhythm of the retreat, not treated as a practical afterthought, it’s a thoughtful place for you to rest properly. So you arrive at the next day genuinely restored.

Day 1 – Friday 5 June
TEA & the Craft
For breathwork practitioners and trainees

A day of genuine professional deepening. Not an overview – a going further. For practitioners ready to explore the edges of facilitation, to expand what is possible in the room, to ask the questions they have been carrying.

Rigorous without being rigid. Expansive without being overwhelming. Continuing professional development in its truest sense.

Day 2 – Saturday 6 June
TEA & Business
For breathwork practitioners and wellbeing professionals

A day of honest, experienced business support. Sharyn brings her background as a sole trader and her years in corporate accountancy, project management, and change direction – not as theory, but as real expertise, generously shared in a room of people navigating the same terrain.

Pricing. Bringing offerings to market. Creating programmes. The parts of running a wellbeing business that quietly trouble most people who do it. Looked at directly, together.

Day 3 – Sunday 7 June
TEA & Tending
Open to all

A day of restoration. Time in nature. An exploration of active rest – what it actually means to restore a nervous system, rather than simply pause it.

Nothing is required of you on this day. The one most concerned with return: to yourself, to steadiness, to the quiet that makes everything else possible.

For breathwork practitioners, wellbeing professionals, teachers, team leaders, managers, carers, and anyone who needs a day that holds rather than demands.

Your Retreat Guides

Two accredited Breathwork Practitioners are present and co-facilitating throughout all three days. Sharyn With a Why and Marie Doherty, both there from the first breath to the last

This is not a ‘one leads, one supports’ arrangement. It is two experienced facilitators holding the space together – two perspectives, two relationships, and the depth that comes from that.

Sharyn with a Why – Yorkshire

Sharyn is a breathwork practitioner, cosmic business coach, and co-founder of The Exhale Awakening. With a background in business finance, she brings both clarity and genuine warmth to everything she holds. Rooted in Celtic seasonal wisdom and nervous system science, she creates spaces where busy, overextended people can finally stop and breathe. As practical as she is poetic, she followed the exhale, and now holds space for others finding their way home.

“I’ve really valued working with you this year, Sharyn. You created a space that felt both safe and challenging, which helped me grow in ways I didn’t expect. Beyond the breathwork and facilitation, I’m especially grateful for the support you gave me with some key business decisions. Your clarity and perspective made a real difference. I’ve come away feeling stronger, more confident and more grounded in my own path.”
– Michael, UK

Marie Doherty – Donegal, Ireland

Marie is a breathwork practitioner and co-founder of The Exhale Awakening. With over thirty years in teaching, she brings deep patience and genuine care to every space she holds. Rooted in the wild landscapes of Donegal, she carries the stillness of the Irish land into her practice — unhurried, present, and quietly grounding. She holds space with the steadiness of the west coast she calls home, where the sea meets the sky and silence holds everything.

“Marie has truly been my angel in more ways than one during this course. Your kind words, support, helpfulness and presence have meant so much to me this year. Marie always delivers with passion, knowledge, and flow. Her honesty, compassion, and guidance have been invaluable. It has been a real pleasure working with you over the past 10 months.”
– Jane, UK
